Exalted Ruler Letter for November 2014

Greetings fellow Elks! The weather is cooling down, and we have plenty of events to keep everyone engaged this Fall. Thanks to everyone that participated in the annual Wing Fest. There was a good turnout and there were lots of good wing recipes to try out. This has quickly become a signature event at the Lodge.

Coming up this weekend is the NC State Convention hosted by our Lodge. We hope you will come out and participate. Even if you are unable to attend the convention itself, you can still support the Lodge by coming out to dinner and band night with Soul Central on Friday evening. In addition to good food and music, you’ll have a chance to meet or reconnect with other Elks around the state.

Coming up on November 1st is our annual Chili Cook-off. This is always a fun event and we hope everyone will come out to taste and vote for their favorite recipe. Also, you never know who will show up. In the past we’ve had appearances from Wayne Newton, Cher and Rodney Dangerfield among others. You need to see it for yourself!

Some of you may have noticed that the lounge has had that “under construction” look over the past couple of weeks. Volunteers are actively working to complete painting within the lounge prior to the start of convention. Be sure to stop in and check out how great it looks at your first opportunity.

There are so many things going on at any given time. I want to sincerely thank each and every person for all their hard work. Together we are making the Lodge better and more importantly, the lives of others whom our charitable actions benefit.

I hope to see you at the Lodge soon!

Fraternally,
Steve Martin
