August has been a great month, We started out the month by participating in the Camp Carefree Motorcycle run, as over 50 Motorcycles roared into the Elks Lodge parking lot, they were greeted by our very patriotic children waving flags with smiling faces. As the riders visited our lodge, they were treated to a meal of our “Lodge favorite” Barbeque chicken. Thanks goes out to Greg Conner, Adam Pallaci, Laura Durr, Johnny “P”, Monica Pallaci, and Robert Daniels for their help in feeding 100 bikers in less than 40 minutes. I would also like to thank Angie Conner and our Ladies auxiliary for coordinating the charitable activities for the children. After the day was over our Lodge was able to make another sizable donation to Camp Carefree.

The West Central District had our first District Deputy Clinic in Salisbury NC on August 15th, Our Lodge was well represented, We had 6 officers, 3 PER’s and 3 guests in attendance. The High Point Elks Lodge #1155 Received an award for the “best Lodge” in the Dristrict this year, and our trophy is currently on display in the Lounge, this is a great acomplishment and our members should be very proud.

As summer winds down and our pool season comes to an end, I hope to see everyone at our upcoming events this fall, The NFL and college football games will be underway and our grille will be cooking up some great food for the season.

Ladies Auxiliary – September 2010 Newsletter

Summer is coming to an end…not my favorite time of year but I must say we gave it our all this summer with the 4th of July a success. Ladies Auxiliary Open House was very enjoyable. Thank you again Kathy Chorpening for all the fun games you have provided. The Scavenger Hunt was a great time with great ladies. Thank you Carol Hoover & Theresa Franklin for coming up with some great items to find you had some of us stumped. Family Karaoke was a hit as well Thank you Tom Day for providing music. There really are some talented kids & adults among us. Thank you Grace Albertson, Linda Transou, Monica Pallaci, Patti Reece, & Anne Marie Orcutt for all your help in setting up and selling the pizza, candy & soda we managed to sell every slice of pizza job well done Ladies!

Thank you all for helping to support the Ladies Auxiliary this summer I only hope we see more new faces join us for our regular meetings starting September 7th upstairs @ 6:00pm with a delicious dinner prepared by Above and Beyond Catering. The Ladies Auxiliary will meet every first Tuesday of the month; new Ladies Auxiliary members that have “joined” the Ladies Auxiliary will get their first meal free. We cannot make this a success with out all your ideas, PLEASE try & make it to a meeting and help us become a Big Success this year.

August 7th was our Camp Carefree Charity Fund Raiser at the pool Thank you Carol Hoover for chairing this fabulous event, the kids had a lot of fun. The bikers were very pleased with the Flag welcoming they were greeted with as they drove onto the High Point Elks Lodge #1155 premises and a round of applause to our wonderful cooks Greg Conner & Russ Pallaci for the chicken dinner all was for a great cause. This is what it means when we say “Elks Care Elks Share”

August brought us yet another successful, Island Night the chair committee person Monica Pallaci. Thank you for all you did to help this become yet another classy night for all to enjoy. I am extremely grateful for all who participated in helping out with one of our “Largest Fundraisers”

August was our first Spaghetti & Magician Family Event Thank you Linda Transou for helping in making the tickets for this event and everyone who helped in making and preparing the food: Monica Pallaci, Beth Pritchett, Anne Marie Orcutt, Carol Newman, Beth Hawks, Ashley Martin, Grace Albertson & Kathy Pascavage.

August 2010 Elk of the Month

Our Elk of the Month for August is Robert Daniels. Robert recently transferred from the Reidsville Elks Lodge, Well their loss is our gain as Robert has proposed 3 new members for initiation, Robert also stepped up and joined our House committee and has been an avid volunteer for many events at our lodge. Thank you Robert for all that you do for the High Point Elks Lodge and congratulations on being our August Elk of the Month.

Members, please join us for a dinner special before the Regular Lodge Meetings on Wednesday, September 8th & 22nd.

Dinner will be served in the upstairs dining room from 6:00 – 7:30.

We will also have a limited open bar available upstairs during this time. The downstairs Member’s Lounge will open immediately after the 7:30 meeting.

Cost is $10.00 for meal and cocktails.

September 8th – Bar-B-Que Chicken Quarters, Mac and Cheese, Green Beans, Corn Bread with Butter, Dessert of the Day
September 22nd – Beef tip in Mushroom Gravy, Wild Rice, Honey Glazed Carrots, Dessert

In order to guarantee a dinner you must RSVP by phoning the Lodge office or signing up in the Member’s Lounge by Monday evening the week of the meeting.

Please remember Wednesday Nights are Member’s nights at the lodge – please no guests.
