2020 – 2021 Americanism Essay Contest Rules

The Americanism Essay question this year is “How can Patriotism be Demonstrated?”. Calling all 5th/6th graders and 7th/8th graders to write or type a 300 word, or less, essay on this topic. We have been pretty lucky in the past and have had many district winners. Think outside the box on this question. How can you as an individual, a community, a nation demonstrate Patriotism? What does Patriotism look like to you? Be creative. Try to stay away from dictionary definitions. Use your own thoughts and feelings. Stay focused on thoughts and ideas that you are developing and proving.

Have an opening statement, supporting thoughts and examples and closing statement. This could be a one paragraph answer, or two to three. Just keep track of your word count. Spelling and punctuation count! Read aloud when you are finished. This will help you catch many mistakes and watch out for homonyms- spell check will not correct homonyms for you. Deadline is December 15th, 2020.
