The first month of new Elk’s year was a great one! Our Lodge hosted the Deputy District Clinic for the West Central District. We had nine members from our Lodge in attendance. We also had family dining, Friday Night Food Fight, Mike’s Wings on Sundays, the PER breakfast Draw Down, and the Easter Egg Hunt in the month of April. The events were well attended. We had two initiations this month so please welcome our new members to the Lodge. The new committees are hard at work for the Lodge and starting to build momentum. Thank you to all that have stepped up to take on these positions. Pool season is right around the corner, and you should have received your pool applications in the mail. Opening day will be here in less than a month, so get your pool applications to the office.

Now that April has come to an end, May is going to be a busy month. Starting with the Elks State Convention. The convention will be held at The Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center in Winston Salem May 2nd-May 4th. Check out ncelks.org for the schedule of events. I hope to see you all there. Then on May 9th we have Friday Night Food Fight followed by Live Music with Michael Chaney. The Mother’s Day Bruch will be held in the Ballroom on May 11th. Reservations will need to be made by May 6th, so get those reservations in and come enjoy this wonderful event. The last family dining night until the fall will be on May 15th at 6pm. Let the members of the House Committee cook a good meal for you and the family.

Who’s ready for the pool to open? The wait is almost over! Opening day for the pool is Friday, May 23rd at 5:00pm. Come to the pool hungry because we will be doing a free hotdog cookout from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Hope to see you all there!

Finally, let’s not forget Memorial Day on May 26th. Let us each pause our lives for a moment to reflect upon those men and women who gave their last full measure of devotion to this great nation. We will never forget the sacrifices they made for this great nation! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at our Lodge in May.
