This year’s Americanism essay was “The American Dream: What is it?” We had 123 essays come in this year, making it the most we have ever had. We had sixteen Elks helping score the essays, also, the most we have ever had.

In Division I (5th and 6th grade) Samantha Heinz, from Shadybrook Elementary, took first place. Madison Collins, of Southwest Elementary, came in second and Riky Heiges, school unknown, took third place.

Division II ( 7th and 8th grades) were all The Academy at Lincoln students. Aliyah Bivens came in first, Ryan Kurtiak, second and Elise Tate finished third.

The Lodge provides $25, $15 and $10 Barnes & Noble gift cards to the respective winners in each division.

The top three of each division is passed on to the District Americanism contest.
