Exalted Ruler Letter for October 2014

The pool season has come to a close and I would like to send out a very sincere thank you to the Pool Committee. Our success as a Lodge depends on the hard work and dedication of our members and the pool committee continues to be a great example of what it takes to excel each and every year. Each member of the pool committee expended countless hours prepping and making sure things ran smoothly. A special thank you goes out to Tom Day for heading up this team.

Now that the pool is closed, we continue to move forward with other charitable functions. On Saturday September 20th we had a very successful event, the First Annual First Responders Appreciation Day. Not only did we honor our first responders by providing a free meal, we also raised funds to be donated to the Red Cross. A big thank you goes out to Mike Cockerham for submitting this idea and organizing the event. If you were unable to attend you missed displays and demonstrations by local police, medical workers, the National Guard and the fire department. The airbag deployment and Jaws of Life demonstration were very educational and a lot of fun as well.

A quick reminder that the Fall Elks Convention will be held in High Point, October 24 – 26. We will host an event in conjunction with the convention at our Lodge on Friday October 24, which will include the band Soul Central and dinner. Please come out and support your Lodge at this event.

I hope to see you at the Lodge soon!

Fraternally,
Steve Martin
