Exalted Ruler Letter for December 2014

Thanksgiving is just around the corner with Christmas not too far behind. Being Elks, we have so much for which to be thankful. Our organization makes many charitable contributions over the course of the year, whether it is through monetary donations, or donations of time. As we begin collecting items for our veterans over the next month, I encourage each of you to give what you can to make their holiday as bright as possible. I also encourage you to participate in one of our monthly trips to the Veteran’s hospital in Salisbury. You will not regret the experience.

I would like to thank everyone that made our annual chili cook off a huge success. It was very unfortunate that we had very cold and rainy weather on the scheduled day. However, the date was pushed out one day to Sunday and we still had a great crowd. Thank you chili teams and thank you tasters!

We have some important events coming up in the month of December. On the first Sunday in December we will hold the annual Elks Memorial Service to honor all Elks that have passed away in the previous 12 months. All members and guests are welcome to attend in remembrance of our brothers. Lunch will be provided 12 PM to 1 PM for a nominal cost with the memorial service immediately following. Please RSVP to the office so that we may prepare the proper number of meals.

On Sunday December 14 we will hold a Christmas open house in the lounge 2 PM to 4 PM. Members and guests are welcome to attend. This is always a fun event geared to meet up with existing members during the holidays and to also show guests what we have to offer. All members are encouraged to attend and I would like to ask that you bring at least one guest. The Lodge will provide some heavy appetizers and we ask that attendees please bring an appetizer or dessert to share.

The annual member’s Christmas party will be held on Wednesday December 17. All members are welcome to attend.

I hope to see you at the Lodge soon!

Fraternally,
Steve Martin
