Exalted Ruler Letter for June 2019

Hello everyone!! What a month of May we had!! I hope all of you got to see, partake and enjoy some or all what your Lodge and the various committees did last month.

Let’s start at the start….the Antler’s did a great job with fixing up our sign that faces Old Mill Road. It looks amazing for all our members and guests when they arrive at our wonderful facility. The Antlers also raised a LOT of money so far this year to help send some veterans to the Golden Age games in Alaska!! We also had a historic NC State Convention in Wilmington, where our very own Shari Driscoll was named the first ever female NC Elks State President. It was an honor to be there to witness history and it’s an even bigger honor to call her a fellow member of our Lodge and friend. Our Mother’s Day buffet and ceremony went very well and we made sure all the Moms were greeted with a long stem rose as a Thank you for all they have done and continue to do, and as usual Above and Beyond did a great job with the food. We also had (and continue to have) MANY new members join our lodge thanks to the work of our Membership committee and office staff. Please be sure to introduce yourself to our new members and make them feel at home. On the weekend of the 17th we had the 6th edition of our charity Golf tournament, this time with a bonus event the night before. The ladies who ran the tournament did an amazing job (see our Elk of the month article) and raised an amazing amount of money that will be used in the form of a scholarship, in remembrance of Andy Albertson and Steven Hall. Our Veterans Committee did their yearly cook-out at the VA and it was a wonderful success as always and the Vets were extremely grateful!! Then we ended the month on an unbelievably high note as our Memorial Day weekend/Pool opening had huge turnouts on all 4 days, and things ran very smoothly the entire time. As current ER and Pool Chairman I could not have asked for a better start for our Pool season. Thanks to Mother Nature for giving us perfect weather, and to the House Committee and Grill team for being so well prepared and anticipating the crowds we had, as well as to the Pool Committee for having the pool and deck ready to be enjoyed by the masses. As a matter of fact thanks to all the committees and members of High Point Lodge for making this month of May one to remember and supporting our motto of “Service Before Self”.

As always please be sure to check out our website for the upcoming/calendar of events, and be sure you are signed up for our weekly email blast. It’s only once a week and will help keep you in the “know” of all the great things your Lodge has planned in the upcoming weeks like the Ladies Auxiliary BBQ chicken cookout, Swim for Cancer, Home Swim meets (3 dates), Hops for Pops and BBQ Dinner & Whiskey Tasting Band night with Jukebox Revolver to name a few….
