February seemed to fly by and brought us some of the weirdest weather we have seen in a long time. We had sunny and warm days, we had a LOT of rain days and even had some snow mixed in for a short period of time. Regardless of the weather, your Lodge had lots lined up for everyone to enjoy, no matter what Mother Nature threw our way. The month started off with our annual Super Bowl party, and it was well attended and what an exciting game it was to watch on any number of our big screen HDTV’s. We have a lot of members who are football fans, and I can’t think of a better place to enjoy the big game with all the food, fun and fellowship that we offer during this event. A couple of weeks later the NASCAR season kicked off with the Daytona 500 and of course we were ready for the crowd with Mike’s Sunday Wings and drink specials.

Cart & Company provided us with some great music for our band night in February, and our annual Past Exalted Rulers (PER) Drawdown was a success with every ticket sold and a wonderful turnout of High Point members as well as neighboring Lodge’s members on that Saturday morning. Congratulations to all the winners! We wrapped up the month with a bang thanks to our Mardi Gras Celebration party complete with ‘NawLins’ style food, music and drinks. Finally, we were honored once again to host the NC State Elks association Leadership Seminar. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only show off our beautiful lodge, but it gives our Officers, Ladies Axillary and membership as a whole, the chance to shine as we welcome around 100+ Elks from across the state to this very informative and important day of learning.

Looking forward March is shaping up to be a great month—We have our last PER Steak night until next December (RSVP required), our first of two Swim Team registrations, Shrimp Boil night, Band Night with Vinyl Tap, our amazing Wing Fest competition, ACC basketball tournament games, Fish Fry night, our monthly visit to the VA, Mikes Famous Wings on Sundays, Family Grille Night on Thursdays and at the end of the month we will have our annual Officer Installation and Award ceremony. As you can see, there is a lot of opportunity for everyone to enjoy their lodge.

We are also running our March Madness Membership special—so if you know anyone who is thinking of joining the lodge, now is a great time. Please keep in mind that it takes some time (several weeks) for new members to join due to the Elks bylaw process, so if they want to join before the pool opens, they will need to get their application in ASAP.
